From signup to a live event.

HeatTrackR is self-serve. There is no sales gate. This is the path the product actually takes.

  1. Register and verify your email

Create an account at app.heattrackr.com. You cannot sign in until you confirm the address. The verification link expires in 24 hours.

  2. Create an organization, or ask to join one

An organization is the workspace for your events and members. If a team already exists, request to join by name or slug. An org admin has to approve that request — there is no open auto-join.

  3. Create an event and set a location

Name the event, set start and end, and drop a lat/lon. That location is what provisions NWS forecast data and nearby NWS observation stations. Without a location, you still have instruments — you do not get the NWS strip.

  4. Register instruments and assign them

Add a device, copy the token once, and point the gateway at api.heattrackr.com. An instrument must be assigned to the event before ingest is accepted. You can run an event on NWS alone; on-course sensors are what make the map local.

  5. Watch the console

Dashboard, map, and instrument table update as observations arrive. Freshness is current under two minutes, delayed under five, offline at five minutes or more.

  6. Acknowledge alerts, keep the record

When a rule fires, it shows as triggered. Someone on staff acknowledges it in the app. After the event you still have the time series, the alert history, and a JSON export.

Questions people actually ask

Do I need hardware to use HeatTrackR?
No. An event with a location still gets NWS forecasts and up to three nearby NWS observation stations. On-course instruments are what give you WBGT at the start line, aid stations, or the hottest stretch — NWS is regional context, not a substitute for a sensor on the course.
What if a station goes stale?
The console marks a station current if the last reading is under two minutes old, delayed under five, and offline at five minutes or more. You can write an alert rule on stale or offline instruments so the gap is visible, not silent.
Will HeatTrackR text or page my staff?
Not yet. Alerts appear in the console and can be acknowledged there. SMS, push, and alert email are not shipped. If someone needs to be reached off-screen, that still happens on your radios or phones.
Is there a fee to start?
Signup is self-serve at app.heattrackr.com. The product does not have priced plans in the app today.
